AIMS - SeaSim Project
AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF MARINE SCIENCE (AIMS)
National Sea Simulator (SeaSim) www.aims.gov.au/seasim The AIMS SeaSim is a world class marine research aquarium facility for tropical marine organisms. Using the SeaSim Australian and international scientists can research the impact of complex environmental changes with large, long term experiments in which they can manipulate key environmental factors. With a reliable, consistent supply of seawater, SeaSim provides fine control over many environmental variables including: light, temperature, acidity, salinity, sedimentation & contaminants. SeaSim’s design specifications include:
Supplied by Pumpspec Ltd: 30 Pacifichem/CorroPump non-metallic close coupled pumps were installed on-site. The use of thermoset synthetic resins Pumpspec Ltd supplied for all wetted parts on these pumps was important for the elimination of metallic ions from the simulated marine environment. The legendary reliability of the Pacifichem/CorroPump product was an important factor in the selection process for this fairly remote site. |
